2013 MoscaStudio Wedding Season Revisited: Wedding Flower Trends!

Image
Every year, at the end of the wedding season, we gather all of the images of the bridal bouquets used by our wedding couples, and organize them into one big blog post. This year (better late than never!) is no exception. It's fun to see trends come and go as each season passes, but it's also interesting to see which colors and styles seem to be more timeless, remaining popular throughout the seasons. Below is this 2013 wedding season's flowers. Thank you SO much, as always, to all of the amazing florists in Portland! Every one of them is incredibly talented and possesses a unique style. I would have SUCH a hard time choosing a florist for myself! :) If you are curious about our 2012 wedding season wedding flower recap, here is the link to that blog post .  As usual, here are links to our favorite wedding florists in the Portland Oregon, Columbia Gorge areas. They are the ones we've worked with this year. There is something special about each of them! ...

A King's Raven Winery Wedding in Oregon's Wine Country

Image
Char & Eric are MARRIED! We met them back in 2011 when they first contacted us for a consultation. We hit it off immediately and were ready to photograph their day the following year! Their date changed due to some logistics and FORTUNATELY we were still open on their second date. That second date came and went and it was glorious! :) King's Raven Winery is just outside of Portland proper and it's a great location for a wedding. The views of Oregon's wine country are majestic and there is plenty of space to explore for photos. We're excited to have this sneak peek ready because this was one of our favorite, DIY, simple, fun weddings to date! Here are the images. ** Friends and family members can click on Char and Eric's online gallery (here: http://pictage.com/1146295 )  to get an announcement email once all of the images are ready! Thank you! **

Lauren & Nick's private cabin wedding near Mt Adams... a gorgeous DIY wedding!

Image
Lauren & Nick are married! August 3rd, 2013, Glenwood WA (a beautiful private cabin on gorgeous acreage). We finally have a detailed blog post for you to enjoy. This was one of our most favorite weddings to date! The entire group of people was so accommodating... the location was stunning and being able to spend the night in a beautiful cabin in the woods neat Mt Adams.... was priceless. SO peaceful! This was one big group effort. The whole wedding day was made possible thanks to hand made projects made by friends and family. Josh and I were there to photograph their day and Solstice Wood Fire Cafe' was the caterer. Below is our photo-summary of their perfect day! ** Friends and Family can register to view ALL of their beautiful images on their own private online gallery. Here is the link to that gallery: http://pictage.com/1258822 (which will send you an email once the images are ready). **

Meagan & Adam's Black Butte Ranch Wedding. A Favorite Destination Location!

Image
The story of Meagan and Adam begins like this: It was a dark and stormy night… …The Portland Timbers were in a match on the field. Two people saw each other cheering in the Timbers Army section of the stadium. The Timbers won the match aaaand a it was love at first sight! The day was July 13th 2013 and it’s a day we will not forget… it was SO FUN! It was filled with yellow and green (the colors of the Timbers). It was in one of the most beautiful places in Oregon ( Black Butte Ranch in Sisters, OR ) AND it was a gorgeous sunny day filled with beautiful and happy people. Plus, Josh and I got to stay overnight on Friday night and Saturday night, in a spacious home that Meagan and Adam graciously rented for us. What a great weekend that one was! Here is our sneak peek of their day. Special thanks to the fabulous vendors involved, three of which are: Moving Picture Weddings  (videography) Luxe Event Productions  (coordination) Flop Flop Sounds (DJ)

Gorge Crest Winery Destination Wedding of Tawny and Mike

Image
Once again, Gorge Crest Vineyard did not disappoint. NOR did our beautiful couple, Tawny & Mike! They married there on 7.6.13 and it was glorious. The weather was a little on the hot side (it's July after all ;) but we adjusted our shooting schedule a bit, to make sure no one would be forced to be in the sun for more that a few minutes at a time. We love Gorge Crest and are so familiar with it... so much so that we are confident with being able to fit every part of a couple's wedding photography, without rushing nor stressing the couple with  having to do things at specific times. We had a GREAT time with Tawny and Mike and so did they! Especially during the party time with our FAVORITE DJ in the area ( DJ Dan Moe! ). Here is their wedding recap! ** Family and friends: click on their private gallery link to get an announcement when ALL of their images will become available for you to see and purchase. Chloe and Peter Buck's Wedding Day, Portland Oregon, June 1st 2013

Image
We can only describe this wedding celebration day as an honor. It was a great night of love, laughter and live music!! We here at MoscaPhoto were the hired and official photographers for Chloe and Peter's wedding and will respect that honor by only publicly posting images that I have permission to post (the ones with people's faces in them are initially going to be private - I can't speak for those people who instagramed everything already...) ;) For now, I have asked them to be able to announce the night with this image of the 6 of us (Josh and I on the right, Misty and Greg (of Luxe Productions on the left) and Chloe and Peter in the center) and they were gracious and excited to have us put it up. Thanks guys! Special thanks to our friends who helped make this day happen:  The Wonder Ballroom , Luxe Event Productions , Something Borrowed Vintage Rentals , PDX Make Up , Blum Design In Flowers .

The Portland waterfront engagement session of Lauren & Tolga!

Image
We're so lucky. We get to meet and photograph amazing people from all walks of life... year after year! Lauren & Tolga a special to us, since they are living locally in Oregon (just as I am), but have roots in the Old World (just as I do). Turkey for them, Italy for me. It's all the same with people who come from distant lands to live in America: we have a special bond :) This was a GREAT day with them! The day was sunny and the park was not crowded at all. We were able to aim shots away from those people who were there, making it look even more desolate. We had a blast! These are but a handful of the image we have from their engagement session and we can't wait for their wedding day in July! {Friends and family can easily sign up to see full sets of their engagement party, engagement session and wedding photography by clicking on their online gallery link here:  http://pictage.com/1339562 Register with your email address and password and enjoy!}

Portland Riverplace hotel marina engagement session on a big , beautiful boat

Image
Angie and Jarl are two FUN people! They have a beautiful family and great success in business. They have found each other and are perfect for one another... we witnessed this, on their engagement session last week. I was a blast! WINDY! But a blast ;) They own this beautiful boat and will marry at Riverplace Hotel on Portland's waterfront... hence this location for their shoot. These are just a handful of images from their session with many more on their private online gallery. Thanks for looking! Special thanks to: Donna of Pearl And Roses Wedding Planning (who has been pivotal to their wedding day's organization and coordination and a huge help to us too!). Jessica of Jessica Belknap Make Up Artist for dolling Angie up with that beautiful make up and hair! Sunny of Puddle Jumpin' Cards for the stationery Angie held for one of the photos! {Friends and family! Portland Wedding Photography of Angie and Daniel!

Image
Angie and Daniel are married! Theirs was a traditional western ceremony, with hints of their South Korean heritage. We had the opportunity to meet their family members and friends, and to be a part of their busy day. It was colorful and beautiful and we loved it! There was so much team work and home made stuff... it was inspiring to see everyone work so hard for Angie & Daniel! Here is a sneak peek of their wedding day, from their time getting ready in their rooms at The Nines Luxury Hotel , to their ceremony at their congregation in Aloha, to their after-party at Departure Lounge in Portland . Thank you to all involved in making this day happen! Flowers and food and decor was done by family/friends... wow! {Friends and family! You can easily register on Angie & Daniel's online gallery, to receive an email when the new wedding images will be all ready. Portland Eastbank Esplanade and Downtown Engagement Session.

Image
This was yet another GORGEOUS spring day in Portland. The sky was beautifully dramatic ... Angie & Daniel were willing to be as beautiful and goofy as they felt like being. We love that! We love it when our couples get comfortable enough to "make faces" and not feel "weird" about it ;) We started off near the Ace Hotel in downtown Portland, walked over to Powell's Bookstore and then drove to the Eastbank Esplanade , on the east side of the Willamette River. That's where the sky went crazy! Dark billowing clouds came in from all directions, the sun was peeking through AND we even had a beautifully bright rainbow! Then... HAIL! We finished the shoot up right as the ice pellets were beginning to fall... you can see the crazy rain/hail/light in the last few images in this post! :D We can't wait for their May 2013 wedding day... it will be a BLAST! **All of the images will be/are on their own private gallery here: http://pictage.com/1405775 which wi...

Portland beer, Portland park, Portland love! (Engagement Session)

Image
Beth & Clint are soooo great! They are yet another of our upcoming 2013 wedding couples and yet another of our recent engagement sessions. They are sweethearts. They live in a cute home in SE Portland that they've been remodeling; got engaged at a nearby house where he used to live; she picked him up a a fun bar ( Rontom's ) in SE; they love nature and Portland parks. All this added to a full few hours of photography! Below are but a handful of images from their session but they show their fun-loving-laid-back attitude, for sure and we can't wait for their Lincoln City (Oregon Coast) wedding day coming up in May! **All of the images will be/are on their own private gallery here: http://pictage.com/1292812  which will be/is accessible to all friends and family. Downtown Portland Spring Engagement Session!

Image
Meet Tawny & Mike! They will marry this summer 2013 (4th of July weekend!) at the beautiful Gorge Crest Vineyards in the Columbia Gorge. They were super nervous for their engagement shoot this past week, but ended up totally relaxing and having a blast! We met at the hair salon where she got all done up ( Moxie at the Embassy Suites Downtown ), and walked through the Burnside/China Town area. It rained a little bit at first, but then it cleared up and we ended up having a beautiful sunny day. The spring cherry blossoms around this part of town are bright and fragrant and we even for a beautiful sky behind the iconic Portland Oregon sign on the Burnside Bridge! ;)  Below is a sneak peek of their session. **All of the images will be/are on their own private gallery here:  http://pictage.com/1326087  which will be/is accessible to all friends and family. Timberline Lodge and Silcox Hut Wedding with a Rare Blue Sky and Sunshine!

Image
This was an incredible day. Josh and I met Kristin and Jason at another wonderful wedding we had photographed two years ago. We hit it off immediately, so when they got engaged, they met with us and reserved us for their own day too! We are so lucky to have such flawless relationships with our couples... the Mosca-love just keeps on giving from friend to friend, from family member to family member... we're so thankful! OK. Back to Kristin and Jason's wedding ;) We met with them at Timberline Lodge at 11 in the morning of their wedding day, March 9th 2013. We spent hours exploring the lodge itself for photos, to then ride on the snow cat to 7000 feet, where the Silcox Hut is located. This hut is historic, cozy, warm and absolutely a perfect place for a small, intimate, unique wedding. We were surrounded by immense views of the Cascade Range, pure white snow, a deep blue sky and the brightest sun we have seen in a long time... It was a surreal wedding day, with unusually ...

A charming Portland winter wedding at The Village Ballroom.

Image
Lisa and Simon's married at the charming Village Ballroom in NE Portland. The wedding was in mid-February of this year (2013), in a day without rain. For those not familiar with Portland weather patterns, no rain in February is AWESOME! ;) We were lucky to have been able to enjoy a little bit of the outdoors on their couple's session both before and after the ceremony. Twinkly lights + handmade silk bridal bouquet + a fun, live, jazz band (Design Band) at the reception + a gorgeous custom designed (by the groom!) ceremony backdrop made of cherry tree branches that were meticulously "force bloomed" in their own home for weeks... really made for a great night! Here is a summary of the day. {Friends and family of Lisa and Simon's, thank you for visiting our blog post and feel free to click on this link to see ALL of their wedding images in one place: http://pictage.com/1339549  Thank you!}

Mt Hood Forest Engagement Session on a sunny February day

Image
We live in a truly magical place. The Mt Hood Wilderness area is just an hour away from downtown Portland... making it possible to visit it and be immersed in nature as often as one possibly can. We love to travel to the mountains (Mt Hood and beyond!) for our couples' engagement sessions, especially if the weather is as sunny and warm as this day was... (so rare for mid-February in Oregon!). On the day following Valentine's Day, we met with our fun and beautiful 2013 couple, Olivia and Ryan, at a cabin where she used to pass time when we was a child... this place meant a lot to her and we can see why! It's peaceful, beautiful and cozy... Loved this cabin and we loved Olivia & Ryan! Their wedding will be in September of 2013 on the Oregon Coast in Cannon Beach... it can't come soon enough. Here is the sneak peek of their engagement session:

SW Portland Urban Winter Engagement Session!

Image
Crista and James are FUN! We had been communicating via email for months (since they live out of state). When we finally met in person, two days ago, it was as if we had known each other for ever! We totally bonded and had a blast on their engagement session... and their wedding is today! ;) Here is a sneak peek of their engagement session. It was a non-rainy day in Portland (which is rare for this time of year!) but it was COLD! We all bundled up and had a blast walking around SW Portland, near their hotel. I predict a fun-filled wedding day today with them!

Wedding Bouquet Trends in MoscaStudio's 2012 Wedding Season!

Image
Wedding bouquets are all beautiful! They reflect the bride's mood, style and personality. Florals are subjective and, while each year seems to see trends, they are all somewhat different. We love to photograph them! They are part of the whole adventure in wedding planning, and in the end, they complete a bride's attire. Here are a handful of the floral bouquets and arrangements witnessed and photographed by us here at MoscaPhoto , throughout our 2012 wedding season. May this post serve you as inspiration for your own upcoming wedding! Happy Holidays! Timberline Lodge, snowy and lovely Engagement Session!

Image
Timberline Lodge  is a stunning place. Full of history and warm comfort. It's a local destination for many Oregon and Washington residents who love the snow and love to ski. It's also a popular destination for shoots such as this fun engagement session (and of course, weddings)!  Stephanie & Josh live in another state and are in Oregon to visit family. They stayed at Timberline Lodge over the weekend, which is when we drove up to meet them for their session. It was BEAUTIFUL and FUN exploring the place and getting to know them! Genuine souls, grateful for life and long-time sweethearts. We had posted one quick image as a sneak peek two days ago, but now we're ready to show you many more!  Today is December 25th 2012, so... if you celebrate: HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone, and especially to Stephanie & Josh, featured here! ;) If you don't celebrate: LOVE AND PEACE TO YOU AND YOURS!

Salton Sea, California

Image
Not many places in the world are like this place. The Salton Sea has always fascinated me. It's story from it's accidental creation, to the good 'ol days during mid-century times, and it's demise due to pollution and neglect. I've read just about everything there is to know about this place and it's even more intriguing now! When we were in Palm Springs last week,  we decided to take a half-day trip to the lake. We had to choose which side (east or west) to see, since we didn't have much time left in the day. We chose on the east side and went straight to a place called Bombay Beach, CA . 300 people still live here and swear by it. An earthen levi was built to protect "the town" from flooding toxic waters. This is what remains of the old town, on the other side of the barrier. I wish the light had been better for photos, but I sure know for a fact that we will return and will explore much, much further.
