Orvieto, Umbria, Italy : Travels in the hills of Umbria : Duomo di Orvieto and Il Pozzo Di San Patrizio

Image
Orvieto is a small burg in the hills of the Italian region of Umbria. It began, like most towns in the area, as an Etruscan village. It became, throughout the ages, Roman, Medieval and then "modern". Not much of the architecture has changed, however. Orvieto maintains it's position of power, atop a flat bluff made of solidified volcanic ash (called tuff - which is what 90% of the geology of the area is made of). The views from the town are beautiful: the Umbrian valley can be seen in it's undulating hills of colorful and varied crops. I love this part of my country. It's inspiring and it always leaves me in awe. Orvieto was new to me ... even if I am Italian, there are places in Italy that I have yet to visit! My best friend Michelle went to Italy with me, this time around. She was the one to convince me to take this day-trip. I am so glad we did! Here are a few images from our excursion (many images were taken with my iPhone - and are not posted here, and 3 h...

Casa San Marco, Cortona, Tuscany, Italy: Beautiful Shabby Chic Interior Design and Styling

Image
Casa San Marco is a beautiful medieval home, remodeled, taken care of throughout the centuries, well loved and simply beautiful. MoscaPhoto had the opportunity to live in the home for one week, this past March/April 2013, to photograph it in all it's glory. The owner is a genius when it comes to decorating and styling and designing spaces, and I was lucky enough to witness it being created, while photographing it. Casa San Marco is a rental property, when it is not being used by the family. These are but a handful of the images I have taken with many more to come, including updates on Casa San Marco's own website!  Thank you to Stacey for this incredible opportunity. Stars aligned for us to meet and collaborate and work together. Thank you to EVERYONE in  Cortona  for your hospitality and friendship (see my friend Denyse's  Tuscany Tours  site!)... Grazie davvero di cuore! Non vedo l'ora di rivedervi e di farvi vedere anche le foto di quella famo...

The Very Rainy (but FUN!) Portland Wedding of Erica & Brad!

Image
Meet Erica and Brad. They are now married! They did this during a day-long downpour, at Washington Park's International Rose Test Gardens. It was a memorable and beautiful little ceremony, with only a handful of their closest friends and family. This was a destination wedding for them, actually! They live in New Mexico and really wanted to experience greenery, flowers and rain... they sure had exactly that on their day this past Saturday! ;) The rains did not bother them... we had a great time getting soaked for photos in the park. It was all part of the experience of being in the Pacific Northwest in May and they loved it. Josh and I managed to keep our equipment as dry as we could, while capturing their joy all at the same time. It was awesome! Their reception dinner was at the iconic and delicious Portland City Grill, who did not fail to impress, once more. What a great day!! Thank you SO much for making us feel like we were a part of our family, you guys! THANK YOU! Sp...

The Portland waterfront engagement session of Lauren & Tolga!

Image
We're so lucky. We get to meet and photograph amazing people from all walks of life... year after year! Lauren & Tolga a special to us, since they are living locally in Oregon (just as I am), but have roots in the Old World (just as I do). Turkey for them, Italy for me. It's all the same with people who come from distant lands to live in America: we have a special bond :) This was a GREAT day with them! The day was sunny and the park was not crowded at all. We were able to aim shots away from those people who were there, making it look even more desolate. We had a blast! These are but a handful of the image we have from their engagement session and we can't wait for their wedding day in July! {Friends and family can easily sign up to see full sets of their engagement party, engagement session and wedding photography by clicking on their online gallery link here:  http://pictage.com/1339562 Register with your email address and password and enjoy!}

They have found each other and are perfect for one another... we witnessed this, on their engagement session last week. I was a blast! WINDY! But a blast ;) They own this beautiful boat and will marry at Riverplace Hotel on Portland's waterfront... hence this location for their shoot. These are just a handful of images from their session with many more on their private online gallery. Thanks for looking! Special thanks to: Donna of Pearl And Roses Wedding Planning (who has been pivotal to their wedding day's organization and coordination and a huge help to us too!). Portland Wedding Photography of Angie and Daniel!

Image
Angie and Daniel are married! Theirs was a traditional western ceremony, with hints of their South Korean heritage. We had the opportunity to meet their family members and friends, and to be a part of their busy day. It was colorful and beautiful and we loved it! There was so much team work and home made stuff... it was inspiring to see everyone work so hard for Angie & Daniel! Here is a sneak peek of their wedding day, from their time getting ready in their rooms at The Nines Luxury Hotel , to their ceremony at their congregation in Aloha, to their after-party at Departure Lounge in Portland . Thank you to all involved in making this day happen! Flowers and food and decor was done by family/friends... wow! {Friends and family!
