Fun reception parties are just that... FUN!

Image
Just a super quick image post to share a fun "moment" during a wedding. Part of our "job" is to be able to photograph emotions and expressions and movement, on the spot! It's not an easy task, but we do it and certainly love to do it. It's not all about the details at a wedding (which are beautiful and beg to be photographed!), it's also about what actually happens at weddings that matters. Here is one of our favorite, latest, moment. The crowd surrounded the bride and groom in an improvised huddle while dancing. It might not seem like a key image, but if you consider how happy the bride and groom are and how important the people at their wedding were and how attentive pro photographers are with quick situations and difficult lighting conditions... well then. This is a great moment! LOVE fun parties :)

'Tis the season (the beginning of it, anyway) for professionals in the wedding industry to come up with and organize and collaborate on inspiration shoots. These sessions are planned out to the T and are a huge deal! Many wedding vendors get together to make it happen, all for the benefit of future brides who might be looking for ideas for their own wedding. This past Friday September 16th, an amazing group of said vendors got together to make the first of several inspiration shoots come alive. Take a look at the list of amazing talented people who made this one happen. Each one of them worked hard to make it happen flawlessly while I ( photo ) and Karyn ( video ) worked hard at capturing the style and feel of the vignettes, for all to see and enjoy. The full post of the entire shoot will be shared with the world soon. For now, I wanted to share just a handful of images to give you a taste of what is to come. What a great shoot it was! The great masters of the industry in vol...

DIY wedding day near Mt St Helens, WA

Image
Another amazing wedding in the books! Here is a quick sneak peek of Ang & Craig. They married on the uber-popular wedding date of the season: 9.10.11 We had the opportunity to really get to know and bond with them on their engagement session in Newport, OR ( see those images here! ) and then again on their wedding day. The weather was great, albeit super hot. But it being mid-September, the sun set early allowing for a rapid cool-down. Anderson Lodge by Mt St Helens is a great place for a wedding! It's casual and country-chic. It can be as elegant and as laid-back as the couple marrying there. There are cabins to rent for the night, and lots of open spaces for photos. The views of the Mt St Helens valley are breathtaking and the vibe was just perfect too. We had a blast! I must give our friend Lisa Kristen Scott a shout-out here. She is by far the most friendly and calm and organized officiant we've worked with as of late. We always suggest her to our clients and when w...

Heceta Head Lighthouse wedding, on the Oregon Coast

Image
Becca and Andrew married in arguably one of the most scenic and picturesque locations ever. Heceta Head Lighthouse and it's historic Bed & Breakfast, are gorgeous. High atop a cliff side, the house was built as a home to the lighthouse keepers, who for many years, continued to keep the light shining on for ships to see from miles away. The lighthouse is still functioning today and it looks unbelievably amazing at night, when the fog rolls in and the beam travels in circles within it. What a sight! The Oregon Coast is truly breathtaking. This location has always been Becca's favorite place. The place where, as a little girl, she imagined one day getting married to the man of her dreams. Well... she sure did! The wedding was beautiful. The weather perfect and their willingness to hike down to the beach below, in their wedding gabs, was epic too. What a great bunch of outdoorsy and relaxed people. A great day for all! Here are a few images from that 10 hour wedding shoot....
